Ruwami Private Nature Reserve

Ruwami Private Nature Reserve

In the heart of the Cape Floristic Region, 10 kms from Botrivier, you will find the beautiful Ruwami Private Nature Reserve. Proclaimed in 2000, this 423ha Nature Reserve forms part of the larger Honingklip property, which is owned by Maryke and Robert Middelmann, and managed by their son Richard.

Significantly, the property falls within a proclaimed private mountain catchment and holds high connectivity and strategic value within the landscape, connecting two Protected Areas: the Houwhoek Nature Reserve and the Mt Hebron State Forest.

Diligent efforts by the landowners over the years have resulted in extensive clearing of invasive vegetation from the reserve. This requires ongoing maintenance, which is being supported by CapeNature and the Table Mountain Fund.
