Platbos Conservation Area

Platbos Conservation Area

Platbos Conservation Area protects one of the best-kept secrets in the magnificent Slanghoek Valley. Surrounded by the majestic Slanghoek Mountains, the reserve conserves beautiful indigenous forests and fynbos. In 2007, a 74ha portion of Slanghoek Mountain Resort was set aside under a Biodiversity Agreement with CapeNature in order to conserve the endangered Breede Alluvial Fynbos found on the farm.

Through integrated eco-tourism offerings the farm has created a harmonious blend of biodiversity conservation, accessibility, and socio-economic upliftment. With vistas that never disappoint (including beautiful snow-covered peaks in winter), cozy cabins on a dam, hiking trails through the forest, fishing, and an educational Fynbos Trail, this is a holiday destination not to be missed.
