New Safe Space Bench Unveiled on Table Mountain
On Monday, in celebration of International Women’s Month and the 15th anniversary of BRAVE Rock Girl, the NGO proudly unveiled its 66th SAFE SPACE bench, located beside the Table Mountain Cableway ticket office.
This stunning mosaic bench is more than just a resting place — it stands as a powerful symbol of strength, resilience, and adventure in nature. Designed by the young women of Daring Disa, a BRAVE Rock Girl project that introduces underserved girls to the Cape Floristic Region and trains them as future conservationists and environmentalists, the bench was created with guidance from renowned mosaic artist Lovell Friedman. Adorned with rare red disas, a leopard, and the Table Mountain Fund’s beautiful pink Protea compacta, the bench highlights the critical need to conserve wild spaces for both humans and wildlife. It carries the powerful message: “Building Strength and Resilience Through Adventure in Nature”, reflecting the heart of the Daring Disa initiative.
Alongside the SANParks Table Mountain National Park, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, the Rockefeller Foundation, and Cape Leopard Trust, TMF is proud to have supported this inspiring initiative as part of our Pride Programme.
